Parawan Gap Petroglyphs

To celebrate Melissa's birthday (tomorrow), we decided to check out the famous Parawan Gap Petroglyphs, just north of Cedar City. Having never been there, we didn't know what to expect. A hike? A national monument? A wilderness area? The ten-minute drive was fun as we drove past different farm fields and entered "The Gap." Once we got through the gap, I noticed a sign on a rock and realized we must have just passed the petroglyphs.

Turning the car around, we saw the petroglyphs near the road just a few feet from a small fence surrounding them. While there were signs down the road leading you here, there was no sign letting you know you had arrived.

The ancient signs were very interesting and made us wonder what they meant. It didn't take long to see what there was to see, so we hiked a little in the area and drove home. Fun!
