For the past few mornings, we've been having "summer school" with Elise and Isaac. Gramaree is an educator, through and through. She has converted her basement into a day school, with shelves of books and school materials. We made some learning packets for Elise and Isaac and they are both doing amazingly well. Elise is starting to recognize words (and read!). It is actually pretty fun to share these learning times with them. We marched to music and made our own music with instruments as we paraded around downstairs. Isaac loves to do puzzles and entertains himself for hours with 60-piece puzzles and a large dinosaur floor puzzle. Gramaree also has a large library of books and both Elise and Isaac spend hours turning pages.
The family has been planning to go up to the canyon for the past few days, but weather and schedules have not permitted us to go. I guess we'll see what happens by the end of the week.
I picked up The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis now that I've finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I have a vague memory of the Narnia books but I know I haven't read them all...
