On Leave - Day Five

Last night, Isaac and I went home from the movie/game night a little early. We had some good father-son time playing games and doing puzzles. Isaac loves puzzles so much! I only helped a little because he really likes to do them himself (although, he will often ask for help just to make sure you're still "involved"). Elise and the girls had a sleep over, and with Isaac in bed, the adults had some nice time alone. What was really different about this night was that we all curled up on our own stuffed chairs and read books. I was finishing The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Melissa was working on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Shelby was reading The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells.

The past few days have been relatively--and wonderfully--lazy. Breton popped in a home video he and I made when we were in High School. It was so awful to watch. First it was lego movies (with streched-out wire hangers attached to the little plastic men), then it was live action to books on tape, and then it was rollerblade movies. It was a fun flashback to see my parent's home when it was first built, and to see the neighborhood completely empty.

We all went down to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center after dinner for a family swim. This indoor pool has a fun area for kids with all kinds of water fountains, jets, and waterfalls. Complete with a tube-slide, this pool provided fun for all ages. We stopped by Wendy's for a late-night snack and then back to Gramaree's house for home-made shakes.

Melissa and I stayed up to watch National Treasure with Nicholas Cage. Half-way into the film, Melissa got up for some water and was surprised to see little Isaac hiding behind a chair watching with us. We put him down to bed again but he showed no signs of being tired. He stayed awake well after 2 a.m. It's going to be a tiring day tomorrow.
