On Leave - Day 15

We went with the Hogans to church and had an enjoyable time. The sunday school lesson on the last days of Joseph Smith was excellent, particularly since I've been reading The Work and the Glory. It's really been interesting to read up on Church History and see it all come together. Reading about the Missouri days and seeing how intolerant the old settlers were is horrific. It is difficult to read how the Missouri Mobbers attacked and drove these religious people out of their land. It is sad to know how these American citizens were not given any legal recourse or help from the law. The mob ruled and the Saints lost, time and time again.

The adult lesson from the Teachings of President David O. McKay was on families and it was sturring. I think I'm going to have to study it again.
