We started Memorial Day off with a hearty breakfast, Mountain Man style. Having a Dutch Oven is great fun and we put it to good use with a recipie found in the “how-to” manual. The trick to good Dutch Oven cooking is not caring what it looks like when you’re done. The savory taste is the ultimate reward. This particular recipie is just potatoes, sausage, eggs, and cheese.
It took a little longer to cook that I anticipated primarily because I didn’t prepare enough charcoal.
Later in the afternoon, we visited the Campbells who invited us over for a Memorial Day extravaganza. Lots of food, sweets, music, and friends. Elise and Isaac especially enjoyed running around the yard, playing with the dog, and drinking as many sodapop cans as possible.
Dayton drank a few too many too.
