By the end of June life became a little crazy with Derek being called as a new Scoutmaster and some dramatic changes at his work, but that wasn’t about to stop our planned outing to Utah to see family and friends. We flew out of Reagan National and had a layover in Denver before landing in Las Vegas. Amanda was wonderful and picked us up, but we hit a little trouble when a loose fender blew the tred off the rear tire. We were really blessed and thankfully we made it safely to a nearby gas station where a new tire was installed by Amanda’s dad (who also happens to live nearby!).
Highlights of our trip began with a drive up to Cedar Breaks Park with a hike to Alpine Pond. We drove down to the mouth of Zion’s National Park where we spend a few days and nights in tepees. We participated in lots of activities at the tepee village including bow-and-arrow practice, Native American dress-up, compass treasure-hunt, sand castles, and more.
On our last day, we drove into the park and went on the Emerald Pool hike where we splashed in river water (and even got in trouble with a Ranger!).
