My first camp out with the Boy Scouts went pretty well, considering we left half of the groceries at the church, I forgot my plate and utensils, and I had no real idea where I was going. Luckily we all made it to the camp safely and we enjoyed a late (10:00 p.m.) dutch oven dinner around a cozy fire (thanks to the Campbells!). Bedtime was strictly observed around 1 a.m. followed by a sunrise wake-up call around 5 a.m. Luckily I slept in a cozy tent with a cot and mattress.

We packed up camp and drove over to the rifle range for a lesson in skeet shooting at 9 a.m. The boys were amazing and they really did well with the excellent instruction. We got to shoot several skeet and we only missed two “birds” out of the entire group. It was wonderful.

With the busy weekend, we decided to go home a little early and grabbed some Taco Bell on the way home.

A lot of lessons learned, especially by me.
