0400 was early. Lights came on and I jumped out of bed. For only an hour's sleep I was remarkably alert. Must be adrenaline. We spent the whole day going through different processing stations-- shots, clothing issue, and "the haircut." There was no option on the haircut, I'm shaved BALD. It is a strange sensation-- my head feels a little hot. Thinking of having no hair was really strange, almost chilling. My body had little chills as I sat down next to all the other recruits. We were starting to all look the same. It was fun to get the final clothing issue. Lots of clothes-- uniforms, socks, shirts, shoes. A long chain-gang of civilians handing out socks, gloves, and BDU's. I just hope the boots don't totally kill my feet. We were allowed to to to the PX store to buy everything we needed. Running shoes were mandatory as were spandex. The food has actually been pretty good-- selection, price, and company. The NCO's make sure you don't talk, and everything is done in formation. We've been told that reception will end next Tuesday. And, they no longer have a PT test in reception! Although I know I'd pass the test, it has still been stressful to think about. I'm really trying hard not to be a leader. It is hard because these guys really don't think a lot. Make you want to be a Drill Seargent.
